Jack Cohen

Jack Cohen, Jack Cohen passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2024. He was still going strong at 96 years old. Kinehora! Jack loved life, and to the very end wanted to be a part of everything life had to offer. Jack was born December 15th, 1927 in Milwaukee to Reuben and Bella. He grew up with his sisters Faye and Gloria. Jack’s work life included varied and interesting occupations. He was an insurance salesman, a restaurant supply salesman, a car salesman, a deli owner, and finally an owner of several laundromats in the Milwaukee area. Never one to be idle, Jack never truly retired. One of his favorite post-retirement jobs was working as a Private Investigator for a Milwaukee area law firm. When asked if he had any regrets, Jack said “I’ve had a great life with good children and grandchildren. I only wish I would have had more time with my wife.” Jack met Charlotte at a mutual friend’s birthday party. Charlotte was beautiful, charming, and smart. Given Charlotte’s many wonderful attributes, Jack had his work cut out for him when first courting her. Eventually he won her over and they were happily married for 68 years until her passing in July of 2022. Jack and Charlotte celebrated the arrival of their firstborn son David in 1955, continued the celebration when Barry arrived in 1957, and happily welcomed Laurance in 1960. Jack and Charlotte were joyous at having three sons, but had always hoped to add a girl to their expanding family; when Stacy came along in 1961, the doctor told Jack “You can stop now. It’s a girl!” After a life of hard work and raising a family, Jack and Charlotte “retired” to a beautiful condo on the beach in Hollywood Florida. They loved everything about their life together there. Jack and Charlotte were especially happy when family came to visit. When Charlotte’s health declined, they moved back to the frigid north and lived with and were lovingly cared for by Stacy and their “favorite” son-in-law Michael in Minnesota. Jack was charming and funny; he won over everyone he met. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Graveside services 11 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Agudas Achim Cemetery, 3690 E. College Ave., Cudahy.
