Robert Emil Strauss, Of Tucson, Arizona. Passed away July 31, 2026, at the age of 84 years. Devoted partner of Sue Colburn Strauss for 39 years and her beloved husband for 32. Cherished father of David Strauss (Lisa Liebman) of Deerfield, IL and Jennifer Doerfler (Ryan Miller) of Mequon, WI. Loving grandfather of Rachel (David) Isenberg, Eliana Strauss, Alex Doerfler, Isabel Strauss, and Ava Strauss. Dear brother of Ronald and Jeffrey, each of whom preceded him in death. Also survived by step-grandchildren (Ellie, Reese and Alec), great-grandchildren (Ella, Coby, Atara), nephews, nieces, and many other loving relatives and dear friends. Bob was a loving and faithful husband, officially the world’s greatest dad (you can google it), and the best friend of many. He was both salt of the earth and a rock – a truly good man, steadfast in support of those in need. He was a teacher and father figure for countless others with whom he shared his wisdom and his progressive values. Bob had the sharpest of minds, as adept at playing chess, sudoku, and card games as he was at teaching literature to his students. He was an avid sports fan and a natural athlete. When he wasn’t cheering for his Wisconsin sports teams, he was playing golf – almost shooting his age. In his younger years, he played football and tennis, and coached baseball. He was passionate about his grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as his loving dog Scooby. His body remained strong until the very end, despite years on his feet in the stockyards and then the classroom, and years battling rheumatoid arthritis. Bob, Dad, Gramps – your words, your deeds and your love will live with us always. Funeral service on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Congregation Shalom, 7630 N Santa Monica Blvd, Fox Point, WI. Burial service to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, 166 S. Hawley Ct., Milwaukee. Shiva to follow from 2 PM until 5 PM at Congregation Shalom. Shiva will also take place on Thursday, August 6th, 2026 from 4 pm until 8 pm at the home of Jennifer Doerfler, 9935 N. Thornapple Lane, Mequon, WI. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to the Rheumatology Research Foundation (rheumresearch.org) and to Hadassah (hadassah.org).
