Our History

Dear Friend:

My name is Blane Goodman, and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce or reintroduce you to my longstanding reputation of providing personalized, caring and quality funeral services to the metro Milwaukee area Jewish community. For years, I have specialized in providing customized services and burials that respect the Jewish history, heritage and customs. I am proud to build upon my years of service through the opening of Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC.

In November 2002, Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC established itself in Mequon. Along with my son, Charles Goodman, I am part of a team of the only licensed Jewish funeral service professionals in Wisconsin.

As a family-operated business that is part of our community and is focused on individualized service and quality care, Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC wants to be a resource for the community. In addition to providing funeral services, I have created a unique approach to planning and arranging so families can make difficult decisions in a comfortable environment. My interactive web site includes pre-planning information, a complete description of services and other information. While some of you already may have made advance funeral arrangements with other funeral homes, I can assist families with the transfer of those prearranged plans to Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC.

Along with being a third generation professional, my background includes decades of experience in the funeral industry, assisting thousands of families. In 1981, I received my funeral director license from the State of Wisconsin. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an Associate Degree in Funeral Service from Milwaukee Area Technical College, which has the only funeral service degree program in Wisconsin. I also served as a board member to the Milwaukee Area Technical College Funeral Service Advisory Committee.

I'm Charles Goodman, a fourth generation funeral director with a passion for helping people. Funeral service has always been my first career choice. No two people are the same and that's why I strive to provide a personal, custom experience to all of our families. Building and maintinaing personal relationships is the foundation of my approach. Whenever a family tells me that I made an incredibly difficult time much easier, I know that I've made a postive impact. My family has been serving the Milwaukee community for years. With a history of integrity, unparalleled excellence, and genuine compassion, I'm not content to coast on name or reputation. I'm driven to continue our legacy. For me life is a continual quest for knowledge and self-improvement. These values are a reflection of the way Blane Goodman Funeral Service operates. This can further be traced to our ability to embrace and integrate new technolgy into making arrangements for familes more streamlined. In 2002, I started working at Blane Goodman Funeral Service. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2008 with a BS in mortuary science. In addition to my funeral director's license, I also hold an insurance license. By having both licenses I am able to prearrange funerals and direct at need funerals. You won't be passed off from person to person to person, continuity of care is very important to me. Being a funeral director is more than a job, it's a rewarding career that gives me the opportunity to touch people's lives during a difficult time.

John Samson

John Samson, Funeral Director

My name is John Samson. I was born and raised in North Dakota where I attended school before graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mortuary Science. My wife, Michelle, and I moved from Fargo, ND to Milwaukee in September of 2017 when I began working for Blane Goodman Funeral Service. Throughout my career I have had the chance to serve families from all backgrounds and needs. Growing up with family friends in funeral service allowed me a unique perspective. After losing close family members, the care I received cemented my decision to join the profession. When someone suffers a loss, I value helping them walk through the first steps of the process with compassion.
